Default Whats with the chrome?

What i REAlly dislike about the new GS is the chrome linings. First around the headlights - those are ok - u dont really see those unless u really stare there...the grille pops out at u and sort of looks cheap like that. but these two are not TOO bad cuz they dont jump right out.

The worst is perhaps ont he side of the car and on the base of the car. it looks so bad with the chrome like that. In the second generation - they only made the chrome lining along the side of the car going alogn with the windows - there was no chroming on the base. It looked so much cleaner.

Why put this chrome on it all over the car?

Funny, I quite like the chrome with the EXCEPTION of the headlight trim which looks a little overdone IMHO. My favorite is the chrome trim at the bottom of the doors. It just adds a little something to the doors which are otherwise a little plain.

Looks are subjective but the chrome is to accent the vehicle's luxury appeal. It really doesn't look all that bad in my opinion.

I usually don't like chrome but to Lexus credit, they put the additional chrome is some slick places, the headlights and the bottom of the door sill, pretty nice and original. Its better than just slapping chrome door handles on the car and other 80s Cadillac touches, giant chrom grills, etc.

BMW is pretty sweet that you can opt to keep the chrome or go with "shadowline" trim, where they black the chrome out.

I don't mind them & I don't think they're overdone on this car.

Looking at your sig, Lexus did a sweet job adding them to the bottom of the sideview mirrors. A nice sublte touch.

Again this is one of the personal choice issues. Some people like it and some don't. I do agree that the chrome does not look good on other cars but i have to disagree on the 3GS. I have chrome wheels and seems like that the chrome on the car meshes with the wheels and looks pretty good. Anyway, just my opinion.

Is it possible for a dealer to take off the chrome on the sides and on the base of the car or either of the two if both is not possible? And replace it with rubber or whatever else that matierial it is thats used there instead?
