Default Audio System Position Selector

I noticed many pictures with this option displayed inside the touch screen and wondered why I didn't have it. After taking a look in the manual, I discovered that the sound position selection option is available only to non ML systems.

Has anyone used this option and can cite a difference. How does it work exactly?

I can't speak for the GS, but I have it in my non ML system in my RX330. It selects between driver, front , rear seat passangers, and all (Maybe front passanger as well, but I don't recall specifically). You definately can hear the sound shift, but I believe it is all an amplitude thing and does not delay the audio signal like some after market units do. I used time delay with my aftermarket system and it is much better than the OEM position selector. Now, again, this is the RX330 system so maybe the GS system is entirely different. Odd that it is only offered with the ML in the GS when I have it with a non ML in the RX.

You know what? The more I think about it, it has to be a time delay since it would make sense with the 7.1 DTS system. It probably is much better than the one in my car.

No, it is offered in Non ML systems in the GS as well. My GS has a Mark Levinson system and does not have this feature, but does have the DTS surround option.

Ahh, okay, I misread your post. Now that I reread it I understand. Well then, if it is anything like the one in the RX you are not missing much.

This makes sense then.. My car is equipped with the ML system and I browsed around to try and find the option that lets you optimize the sound for different seating positions as it shows in the manual. Makes sense that I was unable to find it cause I have the ML version.
