The new GS has been great, tight, and everything I'd expect from a Lexus, except... The Rear Dome (LED) light fell from the headliner hanging by the cord. I was driving very hard through some rough twisty back roads and I had the suspension setting in Sport Mode. I expect to get this taken care of right away as well as the headlights, they do have a small amount of condensation.
I've since push the light back up and it hasn't fallen down again (yet) but I'd rather service take a look at it, and we are closing in on 1k.
The light may be misformed, or the tab might be cracked/broken. Hopefully it is not just a design issue.
during first few months of production, you will often see some small fittment issues... In general, most likely it wasnt put properly in place anyway... these things get tuned with production because no matter how much you test, nothing beats actual production for finding little niggles.
I know it could be an bad feeling, but it does happen....
Rear dome light fell and keeps falling . What the hell?!!!!!!!! Got a piece of paper wedging the light in on my brand new $45000.00 luxury sedan. Guess I shoulda got the 400, hunh?

I thouight I was the only gs with that issue. The rear light in mine fell out also ,dealer order a new light a week ago. Im still waiting . The 2001 gs never had any issues like this car.I hope this does not continue. I still love the car.
Minor problems are a risk we take when purchasing in the first model year. My '99 GS had tons of rattle from day one. I remember for the first couple years of the 2nd gen GS, there were a number of reliability issues which were eventually rectified.
Fortunately my new GS is rattle free and seems to be built extremely well. However, I'll keep my eye open for a dangling rear dome light though
This is a known problem with the new GS. This happened to my 430. A design flaw with the dome light that keeps the light from sealing flush. My temporary fix was to take some sticky tape to force a tight seal. My dealer ordered a new light from Japan and now all is well.
