Default 70-0 Braking Numbers?

I've seen a lot of numbers on acceleration, that's nice, but how about stopping?

I believe flip described it as "the hand of god coming down.." well something like that, but does anybody have solid numbers to compare with other vehicles?

I need something here to brag about to my manager...all I hear is about that d*** CTS-V of his, blah, blah, blah! Please somebody help...I know he has more horsepower but is he able to stop quicker than me also?

Remind your manager he is still driving an american made POS. Sorry, couldn't help it but your car will last longer and cost less.

Just read a review that put the 60-0 stopping distance at 120.02 feet. Hope that helps a little. Apparently the brakes were the one thing the reviewers weren't crazy about.

Default Which GS was being reviewed?

From a driving perspective the GS430's Hughes brakes are a much larger surface area and they really clamp. If you breathe on the brakes you feel like you're dragging a lead sled. The GS300 has more conventional brakes and require a heavier foot. I will try to dig up some factory specs. 70-0 on each tomorrow.

Great question! I had completely forgotten about braking specs but they do mean a lot to me. I was very pleased with my 01 GS braking performance. The numbers were quite respectable from what I remember. Better reviews put it at about 110 and lesser reviews about 118 ft from 60-0. I have not tried any hard braking on my 06 GS300. So seeing the numbers would be good.

that's a very good point rock! on the 3gs the brakes are different for the 430 and the 300, the 430 (from the couple of reliable sources i have heard from) have some very very touchy and poweful brakes, which is really putting the car to rest fast

LOL...probably not a good career move But, yes I agree the GS will last much longer , although I wouldn't call it a POS, I think it's a pretty nice car...it's not a Lexus, but none the less it's still a nice car.

Nice brand new, put 75K miles on it and see what you think then... but right, not POS.

Teh CTS-V is a specific performance car, Brembos, Vette engine, manual. Not GS competiton. But the GS brakes in teh 2nd gen were some of the best tested and the 3GS has 13.2 inch rotors on the GS 430, pretty large for a car.
