Default 3rd Gen Lexus accesories

From the get-go of the new GS, Lexus will have some accessories available.

* All weather floor mats (Black/Brown)

* XM radio

* Rear spoiler (colored)

* G-Spider & "Machined Tourmaline" 18" wheels

Looks that the accessories have stock at the parts centers, so if you want to get all-weather mats or XM installed by the factory, let them know so they can get the parts installed before you take delivery. I wouldnt expect any dealer to have these items on the shelf waiting for you to take delivery Tuesday night

(I did a search, didnt see it talked about in here anywhere except the wheels...)

Amazing that they have all-weather mats available from the start, they just released 3rd gen ES mats this week... mind boggling!

Enjoy

Should be under $200 for the spoiler, painted. plus install.

Its a lip spoiler, so it wont need any 3rd brake light fuss.

All-weather mats should be under $100 for the set of four, they can only be sold in sets of four.

MSRP on the XM radio kits just dropped across the board to $299 too... they can be labor-intensive tho! (MSRP started out at about $500 in June '04)

plan ahead imo!

Any idea what % of the first build will have spoilers? I'd have to assume it'd be pretty much a 'standard option' sort of thing, but I dont know.

Is it just XM or can you get SIRIUS also?

Lexus signed an aggreement with both XM and SIRIUS.

Thanks

I'm curious. Unless you are a Howard Stern fan why would one choose Sirius over XM? I plan on getting SAT radio and since I don't plan to listen to HS and XM is cheaper it seems XM is the way to go. However, I haven't compared them side by side yet. Is there some other content on Sirius that Xm doesn't have? Any other reasons? Is reception and range the same?

I thought I read a review somewhere that said XM music sounded better than Sirius.

NFL, NBA and also a much better signal for northern states. I can only say this for New England, but I have tried XM and the signal would cut out all of the time here in CT and New York, and Vermont (places where I travel). My guess is because XM satellites in a stationary position between North and South America while Sirius has three Satellites that spin as far north as Canada. With the trees in New England, you can imagine why I had so many problems.

I have Sirius now, and am much happier for it.

Also, I thought the Sirius receiver (Orbiter) sounded much better than the XM (Commander). The Commander sounded like I was listening to music recorded in a tunnel.

Interesting, I had the exact opposite experience. I felt XM sounded much better. CNET.com tested both and also believed XM had better sound quality. But, hey, to each their own.

Maybe they didn't use the XM Commander and the hardware has something to do with it. I did a review of hardware between satellite companies. I originally got the Delphi radio (did not sound better) but then opted for the XM Commander because it had a smaller foot print.

I was absolutely amazed when I connected Sirius and it sounded great through a FM Modulator. Same car BTW.

Maybe there is something technical to it and maybe it just has to do with "each is" ears, but one thing that's definite, if you are in a tree'd area stay away from XM. Unless they do something about moving their South American satellites a bit farther North, you'll be miserable.

Somebody just recently posted a animation that shows both companies satellites on a global map. That'll definitely help describe it.

unfortunatly the DIO antenna for the XM radio is still butt ugly.

There is an '06 GS accessory brouchure out that has it pictured; should be able to see it at the dealer.

Still no word on when Toyota/Lexus will release Sirrius radios for dealer install.

As I posted in another thread-I had my XM antenna installed by the Lexus dealer under my rear window shelf and it is completely invisible. Works great.
