I would like to buy a GS awd. However not spending $45K for weakest, smallest engine in the luxury awd realm.

Acura and Infiniti have 3.5L if the GS had 3.5L it'd clean up.

This is a near 4000 lb car. The Accord V6 has 3.0L 240hp (you can get for near $20K). I don't care if it's not the most powerful V6 (like the RL) but IMO at least be competitive with the 280hp Infiniti M35.

Especially if they have a 3.5 on the shelf. I think the IS and the Avalon are getting 3.5L.

That's false news. Both GS300 and 430 will sport the new 6 spd automatic transmission.

well here we have gs300 and gs430, so it makes sense to put certain "gap" between the performance of the two cars

over there in japan they only have the gs v6, so they put in the gs350 to make the power numbers more attractive. that's how i would interpret it

HP is not the only thing. With a new 6 speed auto, Lexus can offer aggresive gearing.
That is how the same290hp LS 430 dropped near 1/2 a second from 0-60.

I've been asking this for months-what rear end gear ratio will the 06 GS430 have?

no one knows, but i don't think it's going to be anything slower than the 04+ ls430. if someone knows the gear ratio on the ls430, i think that's a good hint

SC430 is getting a face lift on Sept. 05. They may get the 6-speed.

Allrighty than I'll call that 3.77. Steeper than the 3.27s in the 430 now. That should be good for a tenth or two in the 1/4 mile. So this new car must be heavier. Accordind to Chu's specs, the 0-60 time only improved .1 That's with the 6speed and 3.77s.

FYI, the specs and times that were just shared w/us are not official. Just estimates. Wait for the official numbers from Lexus or magazine tests.
