I currently have a 2007 Lexus GS450H with over 250,000 miles. It has been a great car for me as I've had it since it had 167,000 miles on the odometer.
Recently the stereo is having an issue. If I raise the volume or bass goes higher, I hear a pop and the volume cuts off momentarily. It returns after a few seconds, and will continue to pop and turn off until I lower the volume. Then it will work normally.
This has been an intermittent problem as sometimes it works normally and there is no issue. The issue will eventually come back.
Has anyone experienced this issue before? I cannot tell if it is a speaker, subwoofer, or amplifier issue. The popping sound seems to come from the rear left side of the vehicle.
All feedback welcome.
I had this issue also. It was happening with my car because the subwoofer was blown. Once I put it above a certain volume it would cut out. Try playing around with the audio settings, left right, front rear, bass treble. It can hel you isolate the issue.
Another area to consider is the trunk vent flaps behind the rear bumper cover. They degrade over time, allowing moisture to to enter the trunk, and short out the amp. Check those as well.
