When I bought my 2008 GS-350 AWD in 2019, the rear view mirror was messed up. I had a warranty from the dealer and they installed a used replacement mirror. Over time, the replacement became even less usable than the original. So I decided to swap them back. Well, the jerks maimed my car. The replacement mirror must not have had the male plug:
So they cut off the corresponding female plug and spliced it together with electrical tape:
What should have been an easy swap was turned into a mess by the repair shop they sent me to. Bastards. Now I need to find the female adapter. Any suggestions?
They replaced it with an identical mirror, one that was used and (at the time) had less streaking. My guess is that the replacement mirror did not have the male attachment. Rather than order the $0.50 part, they cut the female socket off and spliced the wires together. I have the original mirror and it has the male plug. It is less streaked now than the replacement mirror.
My plan was to put the original mirror back in, then either send the replacement mirror in to get refurbished or repair/replace the glass.and put it back in.
