No Start issues
Big issue currently.
Basically, weather got cold, had the car parked outside for 2 days, then went to start it. It ran rough (I assumed because if was cold) for a couple mins then turned off.
couple days later, changed the battery. No immediate start-up immediately after. Then that day my mechanic stopped by on the way home from work and it started for him but he had to keep the accelerator pedal down for 2-3 minutes. Ran fine after this, drove it daily for 4 days.
then I worked a night shift, in the morning did the same thing again, ran for 2-3 minutes, then shut off. The day I got it towed I was able to start it, pull up to the tow truck, then soon as I let my foot of the pedal it turned off.
then got it taken to my mechanic but couldn’t find anything wrong, checked all the relays, and fuses and grounds and did a test for parasitic draw. Found nothing.
then the mechanic said 1/3 relays (Ig1, IG2 and I can’t rmr the next of the next one) was getting 8.4volts but it needed around 12. He tried to bypass the relay terminal to the battery but still no go.
What do yall think the issue is? The entire time all of the accessories are on and if I hit it to the second click the fans turn on under the hood.
the mechanic wasn’t getting a read from the ecu when plugged into the obd2 reader. Took the ecu to a repair shop and they assessed it and said nothing wrong with it, but that they would change the capacitors anyways.
thanks everyone. What do I do? Truly stumped.
Check the throttle body too, if it's very dirty it can block airflow at idle. Although that wouldn't explain the OBD2 port & 8.4V problem.

I’ll have to ask my mechanic!! The only thing that would explain it tho from my research is the fuel rail pressure sensor. Supposedly if it isn’t operating it doesn’t provide a feedback loop to the ecu and the ecu can limit voltage to a relay so that car purposely doesn’t start. Apparently also if the sensor is bad then the ecu won’t scan from the obd2 reader, seems strange but so many people have been commenting on it 🤔
