And can you upgrade the whole screen to the updated 2008 model?

I think there is a color setting to adjust if not mistaken. Go through the settings and see
As for replacing it, I would replace it with the same year. I wouldnt try to upgrade! What you can also do, is remove the screen, tear apart the display.
