Trifecta close but not quite
Eying acquiring a 2011 GS350, 'bout 150k on the clock. Car looks in otherwise good condition, but the dash is getting an early jump on Christmas, all lit up. I've spent a few days kicking around youtube and the web, and I've found just one thread that duplicates this car's symptoms, and it's from years ago, and no resolution was posted. Seller video shows starting it up, and the following three messages are shown in the little info box there: BRAKE MALFUNCTION , CHECK POWER STEERING SYSTEM , and CHECK ABS . Then the little steering wheel sawing back and forth, and the message goes SHIFT TO P RANGE . Seller claims steering is a little heavy at slow speeds, but normal once clipping along. Everything I've found references traction control or stability control, etc., but there's no mention of that system anywhere in those error messages. I'm leaning towards something as simple as a wheel speed sensor, but I sure don't want to scoop it up and get walloped with some crazy repair bill. Anybody got a definitive issue resolution for me?
To me sounds like a bad alternator, when the voltage goes low on these cars. The first to go out is the electrical steering that demands a lot of voltage power. I would put a voltmeter while the car is running to make sure its over 13 volts
