What's up peeps! Newby Here! I tried searching the forum for similar questions to no avail. I purchased 07 GS350 and when driving regardless of steering direction and at almost any speed I'm hearing constant noise in the cabin almost like tires are balding or something is rubbing.
My current setup is 18x8 offset 45mm on 245/40R18 (Continental ExtremeContact) and everything else is stock (I think lol). More importantly, I have a set of Toyota 15 spoke 19x8 offset 50mm on 235/40R19 that I tried to install today but the front brake caliper hits the inside of spokes causing me to think I need 15mm or 1/2inch spacers. I'm a mechanically savvy so let me know what I need to adjust here and what to consider for the noisy issue. Also, if it's possible to run the 19x8 setup, what size tires do you recommend to not cause suspension conflict.
Have you tried looking at the tires treadwear? Run your hand across the tread, if theres any high spots or cupping, then that can cause the tires to make a rubbing growling sound. The tire tread should be smooth, and flat. Also have you checked the fender liners, maybe you have one broken inside and just rubbing the tire.
As for the 19 inch wheels not fitting, I would suggest you sell this pair and buy another used or new set of 19inch wheels that do fit. Why, because when you buy spacers, a good brand is pricey, the cheap spacers that are not hub centric will cause your wheels to vibrate. Also if you were to run spacers, have you though about the tires rubbing, because 235/40/19 maybe the limit before you start rubbing.
I went from stock 18"s to 19"s. First I put 245/40/19 Goodyear Eagle Sports. They were nice but rubbed on left turns. I downsized to 245/35/19 Michelin Super Sport. They ride like butter, turn like on rails, and impossible to spin. Plus the overall wheel diameter is the same as OEM, so speedometer / odometer, etc is unaffected.
Tires seem to be in decent shape and fender lining is intact all around nothing I see seems like it could be making contact. I've attached four images to let you see if you had a callout on the tires or fender lining.
In regards to the 19x8 square setup I'd really like to install, using the appropriate (expensive) spacers, because I'd only need the spacers for the front because the rear brake calipers are not as big and the install would be seamless. With that being said, what brand spacers do you recommend and what size tires do you recommend? Thanks for the advice.
Sweet ride! Thank you so much. Did you have to run spacers?

Tires do look flat, you said the sound is coming from the cabin and it doesnt change even if you steer left or right? I want to say a bad wheel bearing, but usually the noise pitch changes when you turn the wheel at any direction. Whenever you turn the wheel with a car with a bad bearing, the side you turn the wheel usually is the side where the bad bearing is coming from.
But you said the noise doesnt change when steering, so that rules out the wheel bearing. Its possible the tires are over inflated with air, have you checked to see if there at 34 or 35 psi?
If you can video the noise in the cabin and post it, it might help.
As for wheel spacers, h&r, mishimoto, blox, you can search for spacers and make sure there reviews are good and that they are hubcenteric. I would get the thinnest possible, just enough to help you clear the brakes
I got busy at work and the wife had some errands for us EVERYDAY after work lol however, I was able to get after it this morning and complete it and here are the final results. I went with hub centric 1.25" wheel spacers with great reviews from Amazon for about $105. The studs from the hub hid neatly in the spacer without having to shave them down. I bought a new set of Fortune Viento FSR702 All Season 245/35R19 for about $380 (they are currently still on sale for 50% off until May 31 from what I read), I cleaned the wheels and had Walmart mount and balance them. I applied some anti-seize and I was able to wedge an extension in the top of the rotor & between the top of brake caliper to tighten all 5 bolts on the studs with about 12-18 turns on each one. I only used spacers on front axle. I examined the tpms that were on the wheel and recorded the IDs and registered them to the car with TechStream. They are now throwing codes (c2121) but here is my beauty of a project and I appreciate both of you guys for the inspiration and advice. THANK YALL SO MUCH!
After the installation the sound has vanished. After I took the wheels off the outer walls has gashes and various areas the rubber was lifting glad I put on a new set. Thanks you so much!

Looking cleannn!! Are those Camry wheels?! Looks real nice with the GS body lines! Can you add rear spacers to flush it out? I’d love to see how that’ll look! More pics!
