I'm changing out the factory stereo for a Sony XAV-3200. I'm one of those guys that do what they say can't be done. I did my research and figured which of the wires I have to have connected to the factory stereo in order to keep function of the HVAC controls. Its not difficult but time consuming. I just got tired of the bland factory sound. Even after installing an Audio Control DM-608 with Audio Control amplifiers, I still wasn't satisfied with the sound. It's just something about amplifying sound coming from another amplifier (the factory amp) just don't sit well with me. So I'm relocating the factory radio/CD changer to the trunk. I'll post my progress and finish when I'm done. The test fit
So I have 2006 gs 300.well my factory amp took a dump, and I have no sound and no audio control in the settings.I can see the settings but I can not change them.I installed a single din inside the glove box and ran the wires to the trunk. I tapped into the out put wires of the factory amp but the sound quality was poop. Do you have any suggestions that might help me?

You're gonna need an amp if you don't want to replace the factory one. The Kicker Key 200.4 is a small amp with very good sound quality. Run two sets of RCAs from your radio to the trunk (if that's where you want to mount it) to connect to the amp. You can use the power from the factory amp but I recommend getting an 8 gauge amp install kit. You'll get remote wire and RCAs included. If you plan on putting a full system in down the line, get a 4 gauge kit. Please make sure to get ofc (oxygen free copper) kit. CCA (copper clad aluminum) is trash in my book. If you're new to installing car audio, please go check out some YouTube videos on running amp power wire. Don't risk your Lexus catching on fire by not properly running the power wire. Hope this helps.
Shon, I just bought a 2011 Gs350 AWD non ML and am already in love! I’m looking to install a more traditional head unit, such as yourself. Where’d you find the word colors/ the wires that must remain connected? I have been scouring for weeks now and haven’t been able to find any info! Care to share or do a write-up?
Here is the wiring for your Lexus. It all boils down to recognizing repeat wires in the head unit's plugs. Go check out my YouTube channel for a visual. Its the same name as here. Let me know if you have any questions.

I appreciate it! I can’t find the YouTube channel though
