Default 2000 GS300 AC Compressor not engaging

I have a problem with my AC that I hope someone can shed some light on. My AC was working fine but I decided to get a Freon charge anyway. It's pretty hot here in Southern Spain and I didn't want to run out while on the road.. I got the freon charge but now the AC doesn't work at all. The light comes on but the compressor doesn't engage. Fuse and Relay are good. Any ideas what the problem could be? I have a 2000 GS300 with 300k. Thanks.

Are you sure they added exactly the right amount of freon? I know if it’s over or under filled it can cause the compressor to not come on.

The mechanic says he put in the right amount. He says the machine that he uses automatically puts in the right amount and it's impossible to overfill. Who knows..
Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the reply.
In my experience they have under filled them quite a few times. Especially with the recent giant increase in prices of Freon this seems even more likely. Combine that with the fact your ac was working before they touched it. You should’ve went back right away and told him

I had an issue one time that was never fully explained. I went back and they refilled it again while I was there. Looked like air was inside and it was fine after.
