Default power steering rack leak

HI all,

I just had a leak in my power steering(GS430,01), the dealer found out its from the power steering rack ; a part that cost around $1200.00. For that matter, kindly I need some of your advice, or if yaal could elaborate in theses questions:

1- Why the leak accord inside the power steering rack?
2-Do large tires strain the power steering rack?
3-Did any one have this problem?
4-Will other Lexus models fit there power steering rack on the GS430?

Thanks,
Alkattan

Question

How far out of warranty are you? Do you have a good rep with the dealer?

I got the car from San-Antonio ,Tx and then I shipped the car to a different country in the Middle East i.e. the car is out side the US . So that country’s Lexus dealer didn’t cover my warranty because I did not purchase the car from them. So I called San-Antonio’s dealer, and I paid around $1300.00 with shipping cost.
I am thinking Lexus warranty should be accepted any ware around the world, don’t you think?

I think the power steering fluid is coming out from the boots.
By the way, I don’t abuse my car at all.

Hey man, the dealer told me the same (PS rack leaking) thing on my '93 about six months ago. I did absolutely nothing about it.

I'm still not losing any power steering fluid at all and have had no noticeable problems with the car.

My heater valve was leaking coolant, though....Just FYI. Good luck.

It’s hot and extremely humid, that’s because it’s an island.

You know a month ago I had a squeaking noise when I turn, I think the problem originated from it. One of my friends he looked under my GS and noticed its coming from the driver side road axial. I will post some photos when the dealer replaces it.
