Default Can find info on CV boot replacement?

I have an '01 GS300 that has an obvious rip in the front passenger side CV boot. It's not making any noise yet but I want to address it if I can. I've been searching for DIY as well as the cost of a rebuilt axle or even just the CV boots. I can't find anything on the 2nd Gen GS. There are all sorts of stuff for the '06 GS300 but nothing I can find for the 2nd Gen. Even for the axles, the ones I keep finding say "rear" axles and nothing for the front. Anyone have any links to parts, DIY threads, or maybe even a part number I can look up?

The only thing I can really find is the universal split boot kits. I know those won't be as good as a full CV boot or rebuilt axle but I'm half tempted to throw on a split boot even if it only lasts a year or two. For $20 and as easy as they make it sound to do an installation, I'm thinking about giving it a try. Worst case it doesn't work and I'm back to replacing the whole axle.

That’s because our 2nd Gens don’t come in All Wheel Drive. We don’t have front CV joints. Are you talking about balljoints or the steering rack?

Agreed, it must be a steering rack bellow you see torn.. No CV axles on the front.

Must be a steering rack then. I see just below the engine on the exhaust side a boot and I can see a decent rip in it. I'll try to look up steering rack info.

Looks like I need a rack & pinion bellows boot. Replacement doesn't look to be too bad but the bummer is that is seems like I would probably need an alignment afterwards to be on the safe side. I just had an alignment done within about 6 months when I had tires replaced.

Found these on Amazon and a DIY video for inner tie rods that show kind of what to do. The only weird thing to me is that they say you can basically use a zip tie to hold them on.

If your going to use a style that you need to remove the tie rod you might just want to replace the inner and outer tie rods

Is there a style that you don't have to remove the tie rod?
