Can find info on CV boot replacement?
I have an '01 GS300 that has an obvious rip in the front passenger side CV boot. It's not making any noise yet but I want to address it if I can. I've been searching for DIY as well as the cost of a rebuilt axle or even just the CV boots. I can't find anything on the 2nd Gen GS. There are all sorts of stuff for the '06 GS300 but nothing I can find for the 2nd Gen. Even for the axles, the ones I keep finding say "rear" axles and nothing for the front. Anyone have any links to parts, DIY threads, or maybe even a part number I can look up?
The only thing I can really find is the universal split boot kits. I know those won't be as good as a full CV boot or rebuilt axle but I'm half tempted to throw on a split boot even if it only lasts a year or two. For $20 and as easy as they make it sound to do an installation, I'm thinking about giving it a try. Worst case it doesn't work and I'm back to replacing the whole axle.

Must be a steering rack then. I see just below the engine on the exhaust side a boot and I can see a decent rip in it. I'll try to look up steering rack info.
Looks like I need a rack & pinion bellows boot. Replacement doesn't look to be too bad but the bummer is that is seems like I would probably need an alignment afterwards to be on the safe side. I just had an alignment done within about 6 months when I had tires replaced.
Found these on Amazon and a DIY video for inner tie rods that show kind of what to do. The only weird thing to me is that they say you can basically use a zip tie to hold them on.
