I think he's talking about those iron pipes, they will rust over time if they are not painted. I agree.

Yeah, the pipes are being hyper-coated. The show in Ft. Lauderdale this weekend might delay my getting the car back this weekend though. I don't think I want to paint the intercooler because it will prevent heat optimum heat transfer.

I have a couple of questions.

What size and kind of turbos are you going to be running?

What are you using for the engine management ?

The SRT stage 1 are pretty cheap, how come you went custom i assume ?

And why would the color of your intercooler affect heat transfer? That's the first time i have heard that.

I'm going to be running a t3/t4 hybrid from turbonetics. An Apexi SAFC piggyback ECU is helping to do engine management. The SRT stage 1 is pretty cheap, but I got the hookup at the shop, so the price should be cheaper for me. The color of the intercooler is not very significant, but if you paint it, then there's a layer of paint that's acting like an insulator reducing heat transfer.

Looking good, I love sleepers!!!! I've linked the picture below for folks to see.

Question for you... Do you expect to have any issues with auto inspection, emissions, insurance etc after adding the FI? Not sure what Florida is like on inspections, but in NC they won't inspect a car that is generating any OBDC error codes (check engine light) which I suspect you may have?

Dave there are no inspections/emissions or what not here in Florida to my knowledge. You just file for registration every year and it yours. I dont know if insurance is different, e.g. come out and look at the car, cause my family always bring the car home and calls our agent to tell him to add the new car and take the old one off and we are done...

That is unbelievable. I recently had to sell a 1990 Toy Cressida because it failed Maryland emission. It still has a lot of juice left. It has 185K miles on it. I had a friend who has the exact same car at 295K miles and is still running. It was suppose to be my mean of transportation to work 35 miles one way instead of my GS4. It would be nice if I can have a beat up car for going to work or in the winter like you guy in Florida do. Oh well, I should move then

We use to have emissions but I guess they, the state leg, voted to drop doing it. Even back when we had emissions there use to be shops specialized in getting your car to pass momentarily....

Yeah, I don't think emissions will be too much of a problem here in Florida. As for the check engine light. They were working on getting them turned off so I wouldn't have any error codes. I'm kind of glad I live in FL instead of one of those really restrictive states like California. I guess that's why we have so many modders down here.

Default No Fogs

I need some help. The factory fog lights won't fit in there because one of them hits the intercooler piping. I don't know if I should custom fab a plate and place an aftermarket foglight in there or take the lense off of the one that doesn't fit and just put it in there as a dummy to fill the space. Ideas, thoughts?

How bout changing intercooler's ? On most of the turbo IS's , i noticed that the intercooler pipes go through one side and out the other side. Your's stays on the same side (exit and enter). I think that changing intercooler's might be cost prohibitive though.

If it was me, i would change the intercooler or intercooler piping to have the fogs stay in place.

Hay who need fog lights anyways. j/k.

I'm going to try to get the shop to redo the top intercooler piping since that is the one causing the problem. There looks to be enough room to do it. I'm still waiting on my new injectors, but in the meantime, I can still drive around and play with some people.
