What transmission is this???
Hey all, I saw this 1998 gs3 in auction, what tranmission is in this thing? It looks like a sequential but the rest of the car is bone stock...hmm

Any possibility it's just a replacement ****?
The threads on the shifter rod is standard, might just be a vanity piece.
As the radio also appears missing, might just be someone's project, that got left behind.
And the left A-pillar trim is loose, or missing a chunk at the top.
And the glove box door seems to be a little out of alignment.
What did it go for?

The shifter only has a slot that allows it to move back and forth , also it has been in a decent wreck , the auction ends in 6 days , I want sure if there was a common transmission that looked similar

Iv seen something similar in a YouTube video of a high HP GS, I know it doesnt provide any info, I was unsure if there was a common transmission swap people do that looks like that haha

Unless someone did a serious trans change (which is still plausible...), looks like someone was trying to replicate the look of a hydraulic drift parking-brake. Technically, believe the GS shift pattern is straight forward/reverse... the "gates" on the shift handle, and the left/right, are all just sensor driven. If you just want to do P/R/N/D, front/rear is all you need. It's when you get in to manual steering-wheel manual/auto, that you need left/right?

This looks like a ratchet shifter, or more specifically by the looks of it a B&M Pro Ratchet Stealth. Essentially it just changes the shift mechanism to be safer in drag racing by locking out park and reverse unless you pull the little lever in front of it and allowing to change gear by simply bumping up or down, the transmission may just be the standard A650E but I don't know whether it just controls the stock e-shift or it has a custom transmission ECU. Also, I believe the high power GS video that you mentioned is the 900HP Turbo GS400 by Nelson Racing Engines which has the same ratchet shifter albeit, done up to look a lot more stock with an OEM **** and leather surround whereas this one just has a metal plate.
