Default 01+ gas cap with tether

Having trouble with the search feature so thought I'd ask here. I'd like to update my 99 GS300 to have the tethered gas cap 77300-50010. Will this work on 98-00 models? Does anyone have a pic of their fuel door that shows where it attaches? Below is a pic of my fuel door.

I'd think it will pop into one of the holes that are there.

This video is unrelated, but you can see where it is on another Lexus. Bottom right hole.

Thanks, I saw that video but didn't look the same. Was looking for confirmation from any 98-00 owners or a pic of an 01+ fuel door. I assume the cap itself will fit the tank as well.

I confirmed that all 98-05 have same Fuel Door 77350-30331 so all years should work with the cap being tethered in the lower right hole in the pic above.

Nice idea, yet... why...?

The fuel cap fits just nicely in to the holder on the door... remove cap, and place the cap in the door holder-flanges.

This is even better then the tether, in that people have a habit of removing the cap, the letting the cap dangle, and bang up against the fender, getting drips of gas on the paint. Believe our '91 Ford Escort had this... tether, without any holder for the cap on the door. Always irritated us.

Could be worse... you could have a cap without holder or tether. The Miata is like that... you just figure a place to put the cap, so you don't forget to put it back on.

Because the holder doesn't work great. The threads on the cap are wide enough to let it not sit perfectly in the holder and it falls out quite often. The tether would prevent me from having to chase it under the car. I'd still use the holder but the tether keeps it from falling.

To be honest the tether mostly gets in the way in my 2004 and it gets tangled up in wired positions at times which is not a big deal but something to keep in mind. Why don't you just slightly bend the two tabs on the gas door that hold the gas cap so it holds better?

Odd. Not once since we've bought our GS4, has the cap fallen out of the holder on the door.

Was taking some parts from an '04 GS3 the other day, and saw it... didn't think to grab it.

Found this from an 03 GS3. Looks like tethered to top hole which doesn't exist on the 98-00.
