Default Gas cap door/ Plesae help me.

Hi everyone,

Today when I was pumping gas I notice that once i took off the gas cap I didnt notice a silver little door that doesnt let the gas evaporate on mines like I notice on other vehicles. Its the small silver door inside the tank that does not let air out or something.

Does anyone 2010 rx350 have it or is it just like mines? Sorry if I am not explaining it well enough. Here's a picture of what mines looks like.

If you are missing the inside cap, your engine malfunction light is going to come on any second now. You are correct in that your missing cap is allowing fuel vapors to escape.

apparently all lexus models use the same gas cap and you can buy one here:

$14.38 with the clublexus discount

No, I have the cap its self. I was talkin about when you take your cap off and then there also a small silver metal plate as well inside the tank. I'll see if I can take my sisters car and post it.

OP is referring to the flap inside the filler neck. Not the gas cap.

You explained your concern perfectly. I checked our '11 RX and there's no small metal silver door, sometimes called a flap. As another poster mentioned, most cars no longer have them. Excellent picture. You can rest easier now.
