I'm facing a complete exhaust system replacement for 2001 GS300 3.0L. Looking to drop $1300 or so; car has 140K miles with new timing chain at 90K. Any concerns with major engine failure other reasons not to proceed? Thx
$650 on a Tanabe Medalion cat back exhaust (with ebay coupon)
$140 on a Megan Racing mid-pipe
$84 on a performance IS300 header
This definitely makes the GS300 way more fun to drive with a nice deep sporty tone while driving around and is still oem quiet at idle (once fully warmed up that is). There is also cheaper cat-back options around $350 but I never heard any sound clips of that one.
Ya I think if you shop around you can get a full exhaust from the header back as well as an intake. Thats more than enough for the parts available for these cars now days. At this point I spent:
$100 for a used Injen intake, ($250ish for new)
$100 on the off brand mid-pipe (same as Megan)
$120 on a header 02 extenders x2 and heat wrap
$320 on an ebay cat back, which really does look and sound great
So even if you went with brand names like Tanabe and the Megan mid-pipe, and new price for an intake, you are well within your budget
