Default LS400 Calipers Question

Hey all,

I was in the market for new front brakes since the ones I have now aren’t that good.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about both the ls400 and mk4 Supra calipers but think that the Supra ones are too expensive. I was wondering if I only need oem ls400 brakes? Is that what the upgrade is? To just put oem ls brakes on?

Also...I have oem brakes on the rear but they are practically brand new. If I change the fronts would I need to change the rears too?

Last question is that I have stock 16s on the car. But I have 30mm front rca Nd coilovers On the car. Would I still needa get upgraded wheels?

thanks everyone...lookin forward for some good news. Ha,

huss

I think every single one of your questions had been answered several times in the past. Take a look at the sticky up top and then if you still have any questions ask away.

The LS400 and Supra calipers are opposed 4 piston rather than the sliding 2 piston fronts that come standard. They are also larger meaning that the rotors are different and will need to be replaced. The supra rotors are slightly bigger than the LS400 ones however the calipers are steel and the LS400 are aluminum so they're larger. Either will bolt up but you will need to cut the heatshield to do so and the LS400 calipers require either an RCA or shaving teh caliper or they will hit part of the suspension. The supra calipers also have a better pad selection. As far as wheels both need more clearance so the stock 16" wheels will almost certainly not fit.

Like Letsride said though this has all been covered before and you can search to find this info.

Okay, so basically the main modifications i need to do is to cut the heatshield and I need to get new wheels as well? I tried looking in the post above but couldn't find anything about running LS400 brakes with stock 16s.

Thanks for the information and sorry if this has already been asked,

Huss
