Hi

I'm wondering if anyone has replaced their door mirrors on a '98 GS300 MK2 and still has the originals as I need a part from one to replace mine which is broken. My mirror housing is fine and so is the glass so I resent spending £280 ($447.86) for a whole new unit just because some small piece of plastic is broken. The part is the gimble mount that the mirror glass clips onto that also has the worm screwthreads that allow the mirror to be adjusted (I can email a pic or dimensions if required). Obviously I wouldn't expect to get this for nothing so I'd be prepared to pay a reasonable price. Or maybe someone could enquire at their local Lex or scrap dealer if they are passing to find out if the part is available separately in the USA, cos it certainly isn't in the UK, and how much. The one that has broken is the drivers side which I guess equates to your passenger side on a LHD car.

So far I've tried....

emailing a Lex parts department at a garage in New York-no reply
emailing Tokai Rika (the part manufacturer) in Japan-only supply parts to car manufacturers
emailing some UK scrap dealers-Found one for £117 ($187.19) but I still think that's a bit much for something that only gets moved once or twice a month when my wife adjusts the mirror cos I've had too many beers to drive home!

Any help or leads greatly appreciated
