2gs Aristo swap, gear indicator/shifter plate
Hey, all. I've spent the last two years researching this board almost daily, yet I cannot find one bit of info about the Aristo swap. When going from the a650e to the a340e how does the shifter plate and gear indicator on the instrument cluster work? Is there anything that needs done to make them work properly? Thanks in advance for the input.
Edit: my car is a 2000 gs300 without sport shift

It seems I had a heck of a typo. I've read all the threads about Aristo swaps, but I can't find this particular information. Of course there's an overwhelming amount of threads pertaining to this swap. Sorry for the confusion

I read through that link but still didn't see anything on the info I looking for Perhaps it's simply a non-issue? Of all the completed swaps, I find it nearly impossible that my two questions have not been addressed

I would be safe in saying that it is a non issue. I think your researching something that simply doesn't need research. your concerned the a650e is a five speed automatic transmission, yet the aristo auto is a four speed. so your probably wondering how the shifter could possibly work by going from operating a five speed trans to a four speed trans.
if you had both transmissions side by side on the ground. you would see that when you operate the shift lever sticking out the pass. side of the trans. you would get a total of five clicks out of each lever. starting at park, than reverse, neutral, drive, second, first.
the operation of five different speeds in the 650e actually comes from the shifter electronically controlling the transmission other than a physical operation.
the aristo third gear is operated electronically from the shifter.

Thank you for the reply. You're close in what I'm asking, but to clarify, I'm wanting to know on the shifter plate itself where the gearing lines up, as well as the led gear indicator on the dash. So in a stock gs300 it's D, 4,3,2,and L, if memory serves right. Being that the a340e is short one gear, which of those five is no longer in use? And how does it appear on the dash indicator?

I think I know what you are asking. I have the Aristo swap on my 98 GS300 and when you shift the gear manually from (L) to (2) to (3) then it skips (4) and goes to (D) on the indicator in the cluster. Hope that answers your question.

Also, you might want to verify your year break since the connector that manages the transmission has a different pinout after 2000.5.
