I have 1999 GS400 with 35K miles. My check engine light went on. Dealer has replaced ECU at no charge as a solution to this problem. Does this sound like a right solution?
Odd, but yes, the ECU is what controls the light to come on. I had the same problem with the '99 I just bought, they said it was some fuel valve not working? Anyway, the light was off for 2 weeks but it's back on again.
A friend of mine who's a Toyota mechanic told me that 99% of the time, it's the O2 sensor(s) that wear out.
also i had it turn on once cus while i was at the gas station and putting gas while the car was on and than the light came on too. if do u a search its happen 2 many menebers where the gas cap was not tight ...just another chek u can next time...
I'm stuck with the light on too !!! I went to the nearest Toyota dealership, since the Lexus dealer is way far in the city, and they couldn't find the problem. I'm going to the Lexus dealership next week. I'm just glad I'm not the only one.
