Sounds like he's hoping for blown HG so he has a reason to swap...

What is vague??? I posted exactly what I know!! I was never told what the "problem" was so how do you expect me to say what it was? I'm sure I mentioned that I don't know about cars, so I could only go off of what I was told!

Your never had a problem to begin with. Now what happens when you put water in a pot on the stove and you let it boil? It gets hot and evaporates. Same problem you had. Instead of you pouring coolant in your system you adding water daily as you state. All it was doing was getting hot and evaporating causing your temp gauge to go high and you overheating. Drain everything out, put the proper mixture that's needed then burp the system to release air bubbles and enjoy your car.

Exactly. This is something I didn't know. Apart from the cracked radiator ( I did see the crack), and the switch (because the fan wasn't turning on)

Only water that you need to add is distilled water. Regular tap water has lead in it and causes rust. The overheating problem cracked your radiator. That evaporated water pressure build up had to escape somewhere. Either a hose or radiator had to go.

Do a dye test to detect exhaust gas in the coolant.
