Default loose spolier

I have a loose OEM spoler and the dealership tried to fix it without success. It looks like the part that mounts to the trunk is sliding in an out of the hole. The dealership they couldn't do anything about it.

I have to close the trunk VERY gently or else the spoiler shakes like crazey. I've seen another GS4 and its spoiler is super solid when closing the trunk.

**Anybody have any clever ideas to tightening up the spoler?**

What do you mean sliding in and out of the hole?

This is weird, because I had my car in Longo over the weekend to fix the exact same problem and the resultwas the same as recco1. I was not please when the service consultant told me they couldn't do anything more. I told him that I spent additional $1200!!!!!! to get a factory spoiler installed when I purchased my car and this is what I got now. He admitted the spoiler is not perfect but told me that there is no factory warranty on this. I was like *&^%^&... because I was told otherwise. Regardless, that was the worse $1200 I ever spent.

Lexus accessories are warrantied for the same period as the car, if purchased at the same time the vehicle was (assuming its new). Here it is, directly from lexus.com:

Lexus maintains the highest standard of excellence, even down to the tiniest parts. The following is a summary of the Lexus Accessory Limited Warranty for genuine parts and accessories. Lexus warrants that it will either provide a replacement part or repair any Lexus part or accessory that is defective in material or workmanship. The applicable time period and/or mileage limitations are:

1. Accessories installed at the time of retail delivery, except car covers, are warranted for the same time as the new vehicle limited warranty.

2. Accessories installed by an authorized Lexus dealer after retail delivery, except car covers, are warranted for 12 months, regardless of mileage, from the date of purchase or installation on a vehicle, or the remainder of any applicable new vehicle limited warranty, whichever provides greater coverage.

3. Accessories purchased over-the-counter, including car covers, are covered for 12 months from the date of purchase.

Hey, don't make me have to explain this to you...

Joking aside, I'm not really sure what you're talking about either, but it sounds like the hardware that attached the spoiler isn't working correctly. Perhaps the bolts are bottoming out in the spoiler before they're tight enough hold the spoiler? In this case, perhaps adding a washer to the bolt would help.

If you provide more information about the problem, I'm sure someone here can help solve it.

I will take some pictures soon. On mine you can clear see a big gap when you trying to lift the trunk up. I know its not a right way to lift the trunk up by pull up the spoiler, but regardless if its a factory spoiler installed at the factory quality I expect it to be good especially they charged me $1200 for it. I even went to the lot and found a brand new GS430 with a spoiler. You don't even have to lift the trunk to tell the difference. Anyway, altaf thank you for the reply because now I don't feel myself was being an a$$hole when I tried to have them fix it. Can you direct me to the link. I want to print it with the web address and Lexus letterhead in order to keep their mouth shot.

So, I guess when the service consultant told me he knew the spoiler is not perfect and he can't do anything more, does that mean I am entitled to a new spoiler?????

Here is the URL: http://www.lexus.com/showroom/model/.../warranty.html

To get to this page, go to lexus.com ---> models ---> GS ---> GS Model Menu ---> GS Accessories. Click on any accessory and the link to accessory warranty will be at the bottom.

I have a similar problem with the spoiler shaking. However my spolier doesn't shake because it hasn't being installed right. Its mounted pretty tight with no gaps between the spoiler and the trunk lid where the mounts are located. The reason why my spolier shakes, I believe, is because its made out of a cheap grade of fiberglass which seems to be very thin and flimsy and flexes very easily. So if I slam the trunk lid down, only the center section of the spoiler shakes like crazy. I bought the spoiler from ebay way back when I didn't know any better. Are you guys experiencing a similar shaking in the center section or where the spoiler is mounted?

Weird. I closed my trunk yesterday and was like, " damn, that piece is all over the place"

The problem with mine seems to be the spoiler itself is not flush to the trunk. It seems like there used to be some foam padding to firm up the fit, but over time, it has worn out.

I plan get some black 3M double sided tape and fill the gap to get a better fit and less vibration.

Basically what I'm saying is that the mounting brackets that are directly attached to the trunk are loose. It is possible that the foam has worn out, but it seems like there is too much play with the brackets for just foam padding to fix. These brackets mount on to the trunk and the spoiler attaches to these two black brackets. It looks pretty bleak because the brackets look like they are attached using some kind on rivet since I see no access to any bolt on the underside of the trunk lid. Some body give me some wisdom so I dont have to treat my trunk like fine china when i close it!!! HELP!

Here is a little more insight concerning my loos spoiler that the dealership failed to fix.
