Need help with Accelerator pedal position sensor

Replaced APPS and having issue with throttle now, please help!

My '99 GS300 kept going into limp mode and throwing P1120 & P1121 codes so based on the numerous older threads on here I replaced the APPS and so far, codes are gone and no more limp mode. The only issue I'm having now is that I don't have the same amount of play in my throttle anymore and the car won't downshift into passing gear when I stomp the pedal. I tried to be careful when taking the old sensor off but as soon as I took the 10mm nut off in the center, everything kinda fell apart in my hand. It took me a while to figure out how the springs went back together and I thought I had it right but apparently I reinstalled something wrong. I've been through every thread I could find on this site pertaining to the APPS and couldn't find any info as to whether the pieces need to be oriented a certain way when being installed to give you the full range of throttle. I apologize if the info is right in front of my face but I'm going nuts trying to find the answer....

I would very much like to know this too as I need to replace mine as well and would rather not have it be an epic failure! No offense OP.

Did you ever figure this out? My car is doing the same exact thing. Did you swap the ecu or what was the solution? Is it still up in the air? Thank you in advance for letting us know...

Can you reiterate your exact issue, what is actually happening without any exaggerated verbiage. I've replaced a few APPS's with absolutely no problems. The ONLY issue I can see happening is not adjusting the cable properly and nothing else. With these symptoms, I can only conclude that something else was removed and/or not replaced properly during the APPS swap. This sensor swap is a bolt-on plug and play and shouldn't create any issues. Any issues as a result would be pure coincidental and unrelated, so diagnosing without being present would be difficult.

I suppose advancing the TPS would help some though, but not the solution.
