New owner of this gold 1998 GS300. The first thing I am looking to get for it is actually a gold OEM wing when I find one.

So far I am loving it, coming from a 1999 Miata this is quite the executive ride.

Also, I am going to re-tint the center tail lights. Does any one have an opinion on whether or not to use the spray on tint or the film? Both are cheap but I am unsure on longevity of spray.

Replacing balljoints should be first on your list. As for the inner tails, just check out your local junkyards for an 01-05 set. Those don't don't have the fading problem and aren't too expensive either.

The previous owner said that he had done that, but I'll have to take look for myself. I do want to replace bushings though.

Default New 2003 GS300

I have taken my recently purchased 2003 Lexus GS300 to Lexus Service for service and inspection.

Among others Lexus advised to do the following:

1. Replace Timing Belt (There 185000 miles on it).
2. Front Control Arms.

Both of them are expensive. Do you think i should be able to pick up these from Junk Yard?

Also i notice there`s some noise (like boiling pressured water) from behind the dash. Do you think its a failed water pump?

Please advise.

The timing belt you need to buy new, and if you are car savvy, do it yourself. Control Arms you might be able to find a used set but you'll beed bushings etc. The boiling water I'm not sure. Mine has a new water pump but whomever installed it didn't seal it properal from the top, nothing some rtv won't fix.

First off I buy cheap parts for my GS because it is old and a beater (but everything does work, lol).

I used the control arms below for like $80 shipped for the pair when I changed mine. Takes less than an hour so pretty easy to do yourself.

I have not done a timing belt to this car yet but there is a kit for like $62 with just the belt and tensioner or a kit for $175 with belt, tensioner, and water pump.

The boiling water sound in your dash is a bad climate control servo.

Grap a set from RockAuto and do the upper control arms yourself; it's easy and will embolden you to tackle other tasks on your car.
You'll need a 14 inch closed ratcheting wrench to remove the 2 bolts on each side.
Oh, before you start, make sure to say "man, gotta change dem control arms again..." aloud so people think you're a pro

good luck

A Pitman Arm Puller will be a good help too and they are cheap to add to your tool collection.
