Grab the Vins and run them. See what type of history they have. Honestly, if you're looking at 2 different gen GS, then it's really a matter of looks here. Your taste will determine which one you'll get.

I'm a 2GS guy all the way. Over the past 17 years I've had numerous chances to trade in my 1999 GS400. With just over 225,000 this car is part of the family now. My first spark plug change was at 224,318 miles earlier this year. These cars stand the test of time. I just helped my brother-in-law purchase a 1998 GS300 with 282,000 miles. Not one problem in the 3 months he's had it.
Body style is personal preference, there's not a bad decision with either one. Both cars will last for a long, long time.
I just purchased a 2002 SC430 with 104,000 miles as a weekend vehicle. But I'm keeping my GS400 forever.

Absolutely, the GS300 my brother in law purchased was $3,000. So I think the 2GS with 160k is a good deal. I'm not familiar with the newer models value wise.
We were looking for one/two owner vehicles with good service history. In most cases with miles over 100k it's good if there is a record of the timing belt being changed.

The 07 is the better deal, the pre 01 GS have the brake master cylinder that tends to go bad, 3800 is about average for that car in my area, but 9k for a gs350 with only 100k if in good condition with good service history is a great deal, plus you'll get a lot more features. the 350s are much faster and if taken care of are also very reliable.
