I am a new member. Own a 1998 GS 400 with 250K miles (220K is my miles). Recently the slider plastic under the auto gear shifter broke and is interfering with the smooth movement. There are several threads for the entire selector assembly to be replaced but no indication How to replace this piece only? Any help would be appreciated!

 

Is it the black piece that you see at the base of the shifter or under that?

 

The black piece under that black screen like protector within the base of the shifter

 

Take it apart, you will have access to that piece. I don't believe it is a part on its own that you can order from Toyota, so you would need to find a second-hand replacement. Mine is broken as well, somehow.

 

Try part number 3597530240 it's the plastic piece slider. I ordered this long ago when Sewell was still open online. Diagram #? 35975 is that what your looking for?
