I had the taillight/ brake light warning indicator on for awhile and had a hard time figuring out what was causing it, as everything seemed to be working. Eventually I discovered that two of the five bulbs in the high mount brake light were out. Decided to change all five. At least 1 already in there was a "194", so that's what I bought and installed. Guess what? My dash light did not go out! I went on line and found out that "2825" bulbs are correct. What's the difference? Finally found out on the McMaster Carr website. Gotta love McMaster! They have a chart with all characteristics of all standard bulbs. 194, 168, 2825 are identical base and dimensions. 194 3.8 watts, 168 4.9, at 14V. 2825 is 4.8 at 12V. The parts store only had four 2825s, so I left one 194 in the middle. That was enough to make Casper happy. No warning lights!

I did the same thing but I still have a warning indicator. Can this be because of any wattage issues? I installed a 5 Watt 168 LED for the tail light and rear bumper reflectors. All third brake lights are lighting up.

LEDs are typically lower actual wattage, which is one their advantages. They make equivalent light output, drawing less current, lower actual watts. I am not suprised your warning light will not go out.

I plan on LED swapping all my rear bulbs and just putting a piece of tape over the warning light on the dash. Another side effect is the shift lock doesn't disengage, but mine is already broken and bypassed and will soon be a manual transmission anyway.
