Default 2002 dash different than 1998 GS dash?

I am wondering if I put a 2002 GS430 dash into a 1998 GS300, are the dashes the same? Do they fit the same?
How would I make it work?
Do I need to swap dash wiring harnesses?

It will fit fine. The only cosmetic difference is the center channel speaker. The wiring harness is different and would need to be swapped from your old dash. Not that difficult, just take pics of the wiring layout so you can get all the harnesses routed properly.

Not all Gs430's had the center speaker Kyle, you had to have a the Nav and ML package to get it but it was one of the most worthless speakers without a factory crossover. My black dash no longer has one thankfully as the speaker surround would break and get brittle in the heat, everything else except the harness is the same

Would I need to swap to passenger airbag from the old dash (98) to the new dash (02)?

Guess I haven't payed attention on too many other later model GS's Brian, wish my black dash wouldn't have had the speaker as I have no use for it.

I used the airbag from the 03 dash, the plugs were the same. I will say that I have the airbag light on at the moment but I think it may be because the seats aren't plugged in. Could be wrong but they have a yellow plug I'm assuming is airbag related. Hopefully someone else can chime in with a definitive answer.

yeah without a crossover that center speaker is worthless and the stupid housing on the speaker cover becomes brittle over time from the heat. I wanted one so it looked like my oem GS430 did but I was happy it didn't have it.

I'm 99% the seats have airbag plugs if it has a yellow wire with a yellow plug its def SRS plugs

The yellow plug coming out of the floorboard is for the airbag at the base of the seat. My 99 has it and the 02 I just picked up for a beater has it as well. I just swapped the driver seats the other day.
