They just don't measure up to the look of a well done retro.

If you are sticking with halogen, do whatever you want other than OEM HID housings. It is more on what you are going for.
I feel retro projector housings are a waste of money UNLESS you are doing HID.
Retros with HID are good for output, look boring as ****, but they look clean and like they would go on a car designed 20 years ago.
But, a Fiero with a Northstar is still a Fiero.

Light output SHOULD be more important than aesthetics. America is finally seeing that. I would be asking people who have those to send pics of the light output.

Agreed. If there is nothing wrong with the OEM ones,I would just keep them.

I just bought new OEM headlights due to the sun damage out here in California. They were nasty.

Good luck with your decision.

They look very cool when turned on, w/o being "ricey". Basically same in appearance as a BMW. It goes w/o saying they aren't the quality of OEM.
I'd recommend em though.... for the price it was a great mod.

My personal feeling is #1 are a little over the top.
Bingo!
I have #2 as well.
Looks great with HID and.make a great foundation to retrofit as well.

I want to like #1 but can't for some reason

Not sure about number 1 but #2 can be made to look fantastic in the right hands. Had them on my old totalled GS300 and left them untouched.

Gonna do a new retro to my GS400 when it warms up.
I'm sure I can make them look great

I haven't seen a retrofit yet that looks worse than those eBay headlights. Let alone call them boring.

In my opinion they both look cheap and ricey.

A random note about the headlights, if you do anything with them, try and get them a clear wrap with UV protection. It really helps protect them from the fogginess, and if you cant do that, wax them. I got my GS when I was living in Vegas and had the fadded/foggy headlights. When I was detailing in SLC I kept having to polish them, eventually I just bought some OEM replacements...worth every penny, because damn they make my car look new....and had them immediately wrapped. Not just to protect them from road debris, but also against UV. Its been a year and they still look as fresh as when they came out of the box.

Stick with OEM imo.

What he said!
Retrofits are all based on your skillset and level of creativity.

They're only as boring a both the end user and retrofitter's imagination

I bought one of mine on ebay and one on Amazon. Both were new and both were far less than you can buy from an online dealer.
