Default Climate control panels the same in all 2GS models?

...Aside from the ones that have the nav screens obviously. The climate control panel in the GS400 I'm about to buy is broken. Fan speed buttons died and the PO did a creative bypass using a lightswitch. Super ghetto.

There's a replacement on ebay for a GS300:

It looks to have all the same buttons and dimensions as the 400 panel. Can anyone confirm if that'll be a plug-n-play replacement?

It should be the same, I just replaced my sunroof switch with one from a '00 GS300. I have a '99 GS400.

they are all plug and play across all 2nd Gen GS models, a caution though if somethings are done half assed maybe find a car you dont have to worry about. i would think the maintenance hasnt been done or also done half assed too

Exactly. OP, I'm not sure why someone would put a light switch in place of something that costs around $100 to replace properly. Your call, but that would raise questions in my mind. At any rate, let's hope they have the proper maintenance done (TB/WP). You can go out to lexusdrivers.com and register the VIN to see the maintenance done at the dealer.

Other than the total ghetto light switch it's actually extremely clean and drives really well. I'm not too worried. Personally I would've done a switch wiring mod like that just because $100 vs $5 (with a different switch) but I still take good care of my stuff.

Sounds good, looks like you got a good deal. As you know, there are no worries with the engine and transmission on these cars. Post a pic when you get a chance.

What I'm in desperate need of is a wiring diagram and pinout for the climate control and blower system. I'll need to know exactly what was done with the ghetto switch in order to fix it and where to plug the wires back in.

Currently it turns the fan on even if the key isn't in the ignition. Is this because the power to the blower control relay is always hot? I would assume that the wires to the panel were just cut and rerouted, or best case, the pins on the blower control relay were just jumpered to the switch. I'd also like to find someway to apply resistance to the switch and see if the control relay is still functional.
