Battery Drain/Door Lock Issue
Hi guys.. I would like to thank everyone in advance for their help. I have a 1998 Toyota Aristo which is the Japanese equivalent of a GS300. Everything has been working great up until about a week ago. When I would unlock the car it would automatically try twice. I didnt think anything of it until today the battery was flat dead. This was strange since I just put a new one in 7 months ago when I bought the car. After jumping and charging the battery I realized that the passenger door lock was not actuating. Immediately I was reminded of posts I read on this forum about failed door actutors. I thought simple enough change the passenger side (on the left side of my car since it's RHD) actuator and problem will be solved. That is was I thought until I cycled the locks a few times. Now I realized that sometimes the passenger doesn't actuate and then sometimes the driver side doesn't actuate. Now before I go and change both actuators I am wondering if there is any other components that could be at faul? Door lock ecu/controller maybe? I am having a hard time believing that both actuators went at the same time. Odd thing is that when the right one works the left doesn't and then when the left starts working the right doesn't. Also how does this relate to my battery drain?
