I've searched but haven't been able to find a clear answer to my question.
I need/want to replace the Nak headunit in my 98 gs4. Mine works but screen is black and a couple buttons aren't up to par.
I've seen some for sale that lister mentions they have the vin from the donor car so buyer can retrieve security code from dealer in order to unlock the unit once installed. I asked another seller if they had the vin from the donor car and they said it doesn't require an unlock code to get it to work in another car.

Anybody know the real answer?

Call you local dealer and parts department tell you the truth. Good luck.

 

It will plug in and work, there is no code for the radio.

 

I know this is the case for our Mercedes, but I've never heard there being a radio code for any Lexus or Toyota we've ever owned
