I would do Thermostat, drive belt, upper and lower radiator hoses and crank seal. You will need a couple gallons of the pink 50/50 long life coolant too.

I bought kit inc pump from Amazon, then extra camshaft/crankshaft seals but I don't think I need them. I also bought thermostat/seals and drive belt, yet I only changed drive belt (although hte crack is normal), because I'm unable to took off the big bolt and timing belt is ok (98K miles) and I though it would last extra 20K at least.
If you are successful pls do me a favor on how to remove the bolt and which brand of tools you use. I see normal breaker bar is too flexible with cheater pipe.
you do need coolant and you might want to flush ATF as well. For radiator hoses they did becomes harder and had better to be replaced.

I'm actually bringing the parts to a mechanic to change and only wanted to pay for labor from the shop.

If your vvt-i pulley is leaking oil, it'll be a good time to replace that while the timing belt is off.

For a few more $$$ you get more parts. eBay item # 221453661739. Or for a seller that I bought before. eBay item # 230953408805 and all the parts fit perfect with not issue at all.

I did my timing belt on my 98 GS300 over Thanksgiving - one gasket did not come with the kit I had ordered - it is the coolant bypass gasket. My TB had visible hairline cracks.

98-05 GS300 Water bypass Pipe O-rings and Gasket NEW genuine Lexus OEM 2JZGE

Also remember you need threadlocker, and lots of degreaser, if you leaked oil before. And - most importantly, I had the accessory belt tensioner fail on me at some 193K...very unpleasant because I had to be towed. So, I would highly recommend to replace it.

I agree with Mcon, I also bought my parts from ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lexus-IS300-GS300-Complete-Timing-Belt-Water-Pump-Kit-/180682670474?hash=item2a1186c18a
Yeah, also both OEM radiator hoses.
-Radiator if the grill looks worn with damaged fins.
-VVT-I pulley, mines started leaking a couple of weeks after doing the seals.

Do the plugs and wires, and boot while you're in there. Check the idler and trensioner too.

Do everything while it's all off, so u don't have to worry about it later. It's better to spend the extra money for oem parts.

Hi there,

I had this work done last year on my 2001 GS430, my mechanic did:

Timing Belt
Idler Roller
Tensioner Roller
Front Crankshaft Seal
2 Front Camshaft Seals
Water Pump (with metal gasket and o-rings)
Thermostatat with gasket
Hydraulic Tensioner
Serpentine Drive Belt

Hope that helps.

Joe
