Default Heated Seats Problem and Fix?

Has anyone had their heated seats not work? My driver side is out and my Lex dealer told me the only fix is to redo the whole heating part for the seat which is about $1k (ridiculous), But I was wondering if someone can help with this one!!!

Thanks!!!!

No idea....my wife says her passenger side heated seats dont work. I've been thinking about the same thing...if there's a DIY to check and/or fix. Maybe its a fuse or something....kinda hard to imagine that Lexus hasn't a recall or TSB on this since there's a whole bunch of ppl with the same problem.

Hey PHML....the guy @ Lexus told me that there is a very good chance that only 1 part is faulty. That part is underneath the seat towards the back. It prevents the heater from overheating. After doing a little bit more research, I heard that you could possibly go to a place that works on car seats and have them replace that part? In addition, if you turn your wife's heated seat on and the light turns on, then it's not a fuse. But if the light doesnt turn on, THEN check your fuse.

Good Luck!!!!!

My seats don't work either.. Well they work but it takes them a very long time to heat up and by the time that happens my butt already warmed the leather.. And also it doesnt get that warm too.. I think it's a problem with ALL GS's... There was a thread awhile ago talking about how we have faulty heaters in our seats..

Yup, the GS butt heaters suck. Mine warm up a bit then seem to auto-off. The LX is a different beast -- it has two heat settings and the seats get nice and toasty. So much so I find myself uncomfortably warm until I remember to turn off the heaters.
