Default GS tint experts Please help!!!

I'm going to have my black GS tinted tomorrow and I need to know what % to get applied. Does anyone have pics of a gs with 35% all around and even darker shades for examples? I tried doing a search but i was unable to find any good gs pics. Thanks in advance.

I personally like all the windows to be tinted with the same film (same %). The problem is that many states have limits on how dark your front windows can be...check the laws (the shop should tell you).

If your laws are similar to Texas laws, I would go with 35% in the front and one shade darker on all the other windows (20% I think). I personally think 5% is too dark.

Default Same situation...

Hey ezlyf, I have a 2003 Black on Black Gs 300, and I am also planning on getting tint this weekend. I have been told that 20 % is pretty good, but im really not sure as of how dark it needs 2 be in order 2 look good. I can use any advice u get on this subject and vice versa. Also I was told that lexus comes with a tint on the window stock....does this need 2 be removed in order 2 put new tint on? thanks , JAY

I like 20% also, but like I said, it's not legal in all states.

Now when you say the GS comes from the factory with tint, is that on the window or in the window? Most cars that come from the factory with tint have the tint actually in the window. But even if the tint is on the window, as long as it has no scratches or blemishes, you can tint right over it.

Default TINT REPLEY

Ok, good question, It might be that the window has tint in it, since it comes from factory like that. About the percent, Im not really concerned with what is considered legal, I really am just trying to find a percent that is dark enough that will give me privacy and keep car cool inside since i live in florida, but not to dark that at night i wont be able to see out hehe....thanks again

I have had many cars prior to getting my GS and all my windows was tinted with 20% ,it looks very nice and classy without being extremely dark. also if you really want to get crazy you can tint your windshield.
alot of people are tinting their windshields now a days . anyhow whatever you decide make sure you're happy with it

OK.....first you have to let us know what color the interior is.....if the car is black on black or any dark color on a dark interior....it will definately be darker than on any other light interior car. All the cars that get tinted at my shop have the option of going as dark as they want but we suggest no darker than 20%. just my .02...

You may want to consider IL law concerning window tint - do a Google search for sites with details. I have a 96 LS with 35% tint on all windows(except windshield) and have yet to be stopped, but anything darker can draw unwanted attention from LE. I'd be especially wary of the super dark "limo tint". The shop that did my car required I sign a disclaimer. I live in the burbs, but spend a lot of time in Chicago.

I've got 35% 3M tint all around except the windshield. Was told by the tint place that the GS has 3% already embedded in the windows. It's plenty dark enough for me AND it's legal in NC as max tint is 35% here. I'm a fan of not getting hassled by the cops.

More pics here from different angles.

Hmmm, I got pulled over last summer when I was visiting my parents in Southern Illinois. I have 17% all the way around (except for the windshield) on my Eclipse. I was told that there was a new law stating that any cars newer than 1997 could not have *any* kind of window tint on the front side windows. He gave me a warning. I haven't checked it out since my Eclipse has not been back in the area (living in Ohio, but still registered in Illinois).

Mine is 35% all around except the winsheild. Just like DavesGS4 said, "I'm a fan of not getting hassled by cops"

Thumbs up

I used to have 15% black tint on my previous GS4 everything except fnt. windsheild. I got pulled over 5x.
I think I'm gonna do what Dave has done & go wit 35% this time around- No hassle. I have a license to carry & when I get pulled over I have to wait about 1 hr. cus LE has to call for back up everytime.
Sometimes I think it's not worth all the trouble of having tint. The LE around me are all paranoid & think they are on the TV show COPS. $95 tickets x 5 = mucho pain in the you know what. Lucky for me the COPS are my customers & have never paid for any tickets. No hassles = Peace of mind.

Well I finally got the 20% all around tint. The thing that really sucks now is that my Navigation is all screwed up. I can't get a signal on the clearest of days. The guy at the dealer mentioned to me that it's the metallic tint I put on. So it's back to the shop on monday to get this work of art taken off. My God the money I've wasted
