I have a intermittent clicking noise from the front left of my 2002 GS300. I've replaced inner and outer tie rods, balljoints, struts, control arms, lower caster arms, brakes, rotors, swaybar bushings, swaybar links, and steering rack bushings and now I have a clickig noise. I also have an intermittent clubking noise that I hear over speed bumps. Is there anything else it could be? I've thrown close to two grand on the front suspension and I still have a clubk and a rattle. Could it be a wheel bearing? Because that's the only thing I haven't replaced. The car has 112,000 miles

 

You can check the wheel bearing by lifting the car and seeing if the wheel wobbles. Try checking the 3 bolts on the strut mounts and the big lower bolt on the bottom of the strut. I had a clunking noise at one time and found that the mount bolts got loose. Also something that can be overlooked, check the lug nuts

The car drives great, but it sounds like a piece of ****, not including the rattling noise I have at idle (not a heat shield) and this weird high pitch noise from the right carback (also not a heat shield)

 

The high pitch noise I suppose could be a noisy fuel pump. Just a quick guess without hearing it.

 

There is a headlight height sensor on the driver side. It looks like a small sway bar link that moves up and down with the suspension. Mine was loose and I could hear it clicking driving around at low speed. You have to remove the front driver wheel to see it.

have you replaced your front and rear brake fitting kits.... they can cause squeaking...

 

Headlight sensor has been replaced because the arm snapped a few months ago, I have no idea how. As for the brake fitting clips/springs/etc. all new when I did the brakes

 

I also have the high pitch whistling sound but only when it's cold, I think it might be the fuel pump but not sure, doesn't seem to affect driving and only happens to me when it's below 40 out, as for the other noises, maybe just bring it to a lexus dealer and have them check it out, then when you find out just get it done somewhere cheaper, the dealership will usually do a good job finding little things like that.

 

^That high pitched noise is your carrier bearing,I just replaced it for $500 to get rid of that noise. By carback I meant catback* its an exhaust noise, as if a baffle inside is ratlling around. My car is making a lot of noises it shouldn't. Ive owned it since 55k and babied it, its been a real let down in general.

I would inspect your front brake pads. the clicking noise your hearing could be coming from the pads moving laterally in the caliper bracket. bmw's have that same issue and require a special paste that glues the pad to the piston to reduce the movement of the brake pads. see if when your backing up it makes a click noise when you apply the brakes quickly and when your going forward after backing up.

 

So its weird, I have the clicking noise after I stop driving, whether it be first thing in the morning, or I stop for 5 minutes to run into the grocery store. After 5 or so minutes though, the clicking goes away. I can't understand why its only after I stop driving the car.

 

Two questions: First, when you replaced your brakes did you make sure to transfer over the anti-squeal shims and brake pad spacers? Second, what kind of suspension setup do you have? If you have coilovers, I'd check the preload on the springs because if they're too tight/loose, they could make noises similar to what you described when coming off of a speedbump or turning corners.

 

When the brakes were replaced, all new hardware was replaced. As for suspension, KYB struts, regular springs, stock ride height,no coilovers.

 

Did you get an alignment after all the suspension work? I had a clicking/cracking noise that i can feel from the break pedal after i replaced my tie rod and LBJ. The alignment fixed everything.
