Non Drl to Drl lights
I have a 99 gs300 and it did not come with factory drls just the wedge bulbs. I'm trying to figure out if I get 01+ headlights is there a way I can get drl or at least somehow give power to the inner lights when I power on the driving lights.
I believe all 99 GS's came with DRL. The DRL is your highbeam bulb (9005) at 50% wattage, it turns on when your headlights are off. The wedge bulb in the inner housing (194) would be your city lights/ parking lights, and they come on with your headlights or if you flick to the 1st option after "Off" on the light switch.
DRL's werent on the 98-00 GS only the 01+
OP: Switching to the 01+ housings doesnt change anything, the DRL's are regulated by the ECU or an external module. If its an external module, I'm sure it can be purchased for a pretty penny.

Lol you're wrong man. Only 98's didn't come with DRL.
First post is pretty clear. Even though he was mistaken about not having DRL's, he knows that the wedge bulbs arent DRL's. He states that he has the wedge bulbs, but wants to get some power to the 'inner lights'.

Negatory, ghost rider. Only 1998 model year vehicles did not come with DRLs. 1999-2005 did as standard equipment.
After extensive research, I finally came up with this:

Not sure of the validity or thoroughness, however I would think the consumer guide would be pretty accurate. Apparently DRL's were the ONLY thing changed from 98 to 99. So although Sphan519 was amused by a mistake, he is correct.
So OP, you might want to check your fuses or check and see if the previous owner may have disabled them (as many do to run HID's for their high beams)
