I recently bought a gs400 with an l-tuned exhaust already on it. My catalytic converter on the left side is clogged. Is the catalytic converter part of the l-tuned exhaust, or did the l-tuned exhaust come from the headers? I have researched and i can't find anything.

Pretty sure its a cat-back. Unless I'm completely ignorant, most if not all exhaust kits are cat-back or axle-back and not all the way to the header unless custom made.

I called l-tuned and they told me that the l-tuned exhaust came off of the headers and the cats are oem. I thought they were cat back as well.

I believe they only made one exhaust for the GS and it fit both the 300 and 400 because everything from the cat back (including the last cat) is the same for both. Also, I dont see OE removing the cats up front like that since everything is supposed to be legal. Remember, sadly the people you talk to at the dealers really dont know a damn thing LoL I argued and argued with a dealer while building my drag car and they insisted my car didnt have an LSD LoL

Just did a little searching in the classifieds and so far everyone only has axle-back... hmmm...

Now that I think about it, cant you tell by just looking at it? OEM and Non-oem cats are quite different.

You're right the guy had no clue what he was talking about lol. L-tuned is an axel back exhaust.

I'm already straight piped for the headers to the l-tuned. My left muffler on my l-tuned exhaust is clogged and spitting out the honeycomb that's inside and i don't know if I should take both of them off and sell just the right one? Or just cut off the last cat and finish off the straight pipe. But I really don't want to cut up the good one because they're rare.

So is it the muffler or the cat that is clogged? You first said cat. And if its the cat, then its just an oem cat since the exhaust is only axle back

You're talking about the very last 2 right? Sorry just trying to make sure. I have everything cut out up front and in the middle.

Well I'm just going by what you're saying. If the l-tuned exhaust is only axle-back, then everything else (other than what you changed) is all stock.

Now that I think about it, I think you're thinking of the resonators, not the cats. Look at the pics I posted, in order starting from the headers back, its the header, the 2 cats, downpipe, mid muffler/pipe, y-pipe, resonator more piping then the mufflers. Part no. 17420 are the resonators part no. 17410 are the converters. If its the resonators, you can just delete them, but you'll get a bit louder.

17430 is clogged on the left side. 17420 and 17410 are already cut out

Thats your muffler man. What parts did you consider as l-tuned exhaust if you didnt know that was a muffler?

I guess I thought the muffler was part of the l-tuned. What exactly is the l-tuned then?
