Thanks for the reply Jokster.. Are you running the stock 100Amp alt or a 140? I have only very loud music in my car, 2 level 5 DC's (3000rms 6000watts a piece) and one DC 3.5K RMS on 2 XS power batteries ( D3400 ). Big 3 has been done (0 guage) and I only have 0 guage Wires running. At first I was at 13.5V, but slowly and slowly it has dropped and now its at 10.0, I have basically stopped driving the car until I can rebuild the alternator or get an upgraded one.

The only reason I asked is cuz lowkut said he get his rebuilt to 320 at that location.. and when I called they said only 140 they had.. =/

With that set up, you need to get a massive alternator, 140 isnt gonna do shat for you. Especially if you crank it all the time. Your're pulling 300a of power with your amps. Sure you have extra batteries, but at that rate, those batteries are gonna eventually gonna run dry and the amps are gonna run straight from the alternator not giving the alternator time to charge them while leaving the batteries dead. I hope you're running the same battery under the hood cause matching batteries is very important as well as I hope you're running some type of solenoid to separate the starter battery from the auxiliary batteries. Basically, if you're sucking more amperage from the set up than the alternator can do, you're screwed.

To save SOME money, theirs always the alternative of adding a second alternator (if you have a gs300) theres plenty of room for that, just a matter of getting someone to fabricate a bracket and then going to autozone and get the largest alternator they make. Run your system off that alternator and leave the factory alt for just stock deals. Noting like having an independent set up for your audio system.

Well, I had ordered a 240Amp alt from Sonic and they sent me the wrong one, one for ES300, but I was able to get them to replace it after trying to install it. It should be here this week. The only problem with running another alt is getting a custom built bracket and then the size of the belt would go up no? Also, I have only the same batteries D3400 one up front to start and one at the back. Thinking of adding two more as I have another amp coming in just for the subs.
