Default Brake light on dash comes on randomly

I noticed yesterday as I was speeding through a merge section on the freeway that my brake light randomly came on my dash. I pulled the parking brake lever, but the red light still stayed.

After slowing down/braking and releasing a bit, the light went away. It came on a couple of other times, but quickly went away.

Does anyone know what's going on?

Add brake fluid to your reservoir

It slowly lowers as the pads wear. It should only happen once over the life of pads if not you probably have a leak. Check to see how much pad you got left

Brake fluid looks topped off, doesn't seem like it's low. Any other suggestions?

Default float switch

check if the float switch in the brake fluid reservoir is floating at the top. if you have dirty fluid it may be causing the float switch to stay low. also check the electrical connector to the side of the reservoir and make sure its tight. I believe the GS has brake pad monitors. might want to see if the brake pads are low.
good luck

Also unplug and clean connector terminals with contact cleaner. Check with ohm meter while manually moving float

Make sure you have the right bulbs if you changed them recently. The voltage on the bulbs have to be the same as oem are the dash light goes off, but the brake light will still work.

Some of my Toyota cars have the alternator light linked with the brake light. When the alternator goes bad or is going bad the brake light comes one. Usually the battery light also comes on, but I have seen just the brake light come on and no alternator.

Try getting the alternator checked. Has you power steering been leaking for a while. On the GS4 sometimes it leaks on to the alternator causing it to fail.
