I bought my new case for $5 off ebay a few years back and it's better than the original (the new one reinforced that part that broke on the original so that it's stiffer). I also went to a local lock smith and they cut it without any problems and transferred the internals over to the new shell for $20. It's been working flawlessly (i.e. smooth insertion and no shell flex) ever since.

That sounds like the way I'm going to go. Can you give me the eBay seller? There are so many it's good to know who is selling quality nowadays.

***Edit so I just noticed that you said it was a few years ago. Doubtful you would still remember the seller.

Bumping this old thread cause I didn't want to bump and even older thread on a slightly different topic.

So is the Eternity Key the way to go or Ebay/Amazon for new key shells? I also don't mind going to dealer if it means better quality and getting it replaced and cut will cost me $75. Please post where you got your replacement key, how much, how much abuse you put it through, and how long its lasted you.

Also, a little off topic, but I posted in the lighting section and didn't get an answer. The key light ring - I thought mine was out but it seems to come on when doors are open, before you put the key in. Is this right or is mine about to give out? It's not on while driving. 7 years later and I'm just now noticing this lol. I was going to replaced the bulb in it.

Thanks!

Edit: Just called my 3 local Lexus dealerships. 2 charged $90-$100 for new shell, blade, and cutting. The other charged $75. All have a 1 year warranty.
