Default Lexus jones fading?

Hey guys. Back when I bought my used GS430, I was active on the forum and definitely had the Lexus jones working. My GS is still a beautiful car, even compared to today's designs. But after 10 years behind the wheel I find my eyes wandering and let's say, I started checking out the menu.

I snapped off a few pics the other night for a heat-check. Let me know what you think. She's well maintained, solid and sexy...but after a decade, should I stay or should I go?

Keep it. It's too clean to sell to some idiot who'll probably trash it

Thanks, guys. This is the encouragement I was hoping for.

aristonic - That's one of my concerns...I sell it and 6 mos from now I see it all f'd up...same concern I have with passing it on to my son (18)...but at least I could help him take care of it

702GS - Yeah, I appreciate stealth...like when Grandpa (me) rolls up clean in his 14 year old ride and lays down the hammer.

SpetraBlu - Yours is the color that I first saw on the 2GS at the 2000 Washington Auto Show and that was the start...my second color choice after millenium silver

...trying to find that mojo

I'd give it to your son. I'd be stoked if my dad gave me his car he'd had for 10 years

Keep it. It'll land in the hands of a former Honda driver who will murder the damn thing. She's too precious....

If you were to get rid of it, I would give it to your kid. Like you said, you can help him and teach him how take care of it. If you sell it to some random idiot, it'll never be the same. That's how it goes. Unless the buyer is a true enthusiast and really appreciate what they have, then they'll never fully appreciate it. Just speaking from my experience.

I would keep it. I was tempted at 1 point too. Iv had my eyes on the newer cts-v's but in all honesty if you sell the car you will prolly end up buying another one. This is my third gs in 5 years.i have a fear of being a ricer but the older guys on here know how to keep it classy- simple & elegant and usually put the ricers in check. I think, if we restore and keep our cars in tip top shape the gs's value will be worth too much for a ricer to afford. Some guys on here think I value my cars blue book too high, but iv sold 1 of my Gs's for more then you can imagine because I decided to keep the paint and interior in perfect condition. Some people will pay big bucks for a really clean stock Gs like yours..

My eyes are wandering as well!! I've owned a 2002 Gs300, 1999 Gs400 and now a 2005 Gs430, silver like yours but with the 7 spoke wheels. I thought I would be satisfied for many years finding a low mileage, final year 2GS, but i've started to get the newer car itch again and started to realize that the 2GS is showing it's age a bit. My eyes have been wondering at the 3GS, Gs430 and Gs460 to the point where I've started to test the sales waters for my Gs430. My GS430 drives like a dream and is great condition in and out. There is really no reason to sell it other than the fact that it looks a bit dated.

Check out these pics of this silver 2006 GS430. Would probably be several more years before this style will start to look "old." I'd probaly hold out for a 2008+ GS460 so would regret getting the 2006 Gs430. I really like this style over the newer GS350 which is slowly growing on me. The newer style Lexus models are looking more abstract and has lost some of it sleek and luxury appearance. They seem to be copying Cadilac by trying to look different and stand out from the crowd, but I think Cadillac is pulling it off MUCH better.

Hey test the sale waters and see if you would actually get rid of her if someone is willing to buy it. I would only budge if someone comes very close to my asking price.

Bhubb18, Aristonic - I know my boy would appreciate it but 2 things worry me:
1) my folks took care of me but definitely didn't give me too much - if i wanted something really nice, I had to buy with the fruits of my own hard work - I want him to learn it the same way
2) If I hand it over to him, sooner or later I'm going to sneak her out for a high speed run at 2am

gsean400 - I believe there's a lot of value in keeping it simple. I'm sure I'd miss her if I let her go.

Jlaws - That's a sweet ride, but the 3GS style hasn't grown on me. Love that color combo and wheels though. I bet if we both put those wheels on on Gs we'd stop looking at other rides for awhile.

Aye, you should consider doing just that! Some motivation:

Ripper it's a beautiful car that's for sure. Looks like it rolled out of the showroom just yesterday. But it is going to look dated because it was likely designed in the mid-90's for the 98 debut.

One thing I like about the 2GS though is that it was future-proofed to some extent, especially on the safety front and for performance.

It really depends on where your eye is wandering to and how deep is your love... and your wallet for another
