Default Yet another 55W HID headlight thread...

So I have been reading old threads on upgrading the OEM headlights - none of them are very conclusive.

Can I get some input from those who have upgraded their OEM HID to 55w.

Is it brighter?

Was the install easy? (i.e - did you access the wires without taking the headlights out?)

Thanks.

I don't have 55W bulbs, but I can tell you that removing the ballasts is near to impossible without taking out the headlights.
I assume that you'd have to change the ballasts too if you upgrade to 55W.

It's difficult but not to that degree. You don't have to remove the headlights. At least I didn't. Passenger side is much easier than the drivers.

What I am thinking is to just unplug the OEM ballast and leave it in place - is that do-able?

No because the ballast wire on the oem is INSIDE the headlight, unless u turn the screw until the position of the bowl is towards the front THEN u can pull out the oem ballast connector that is holding the hid bulb from the bottom, u will have zero room and it is damn near impossible to do without taking your bumper off, do it the right way, Btw 55w might eventually start melting your housing in about a month, too much risk for reward if u ask me, easy pass...

Yea, I just read that! My fault. You have the Euro version which is different. I retract my previous statement.
