2000 GS300 Purchasing questions
Hey everybody,
this is my first post in the forums. I live in Australia, and have recently discovered the GS300s while searching for a new car. The one I am looking at is at a dealership for $10,950AUD with 93k miles on it.
http://cars.old.com.au/view.php/used...Sedan/7795413/
It has been serviced at lexus since it was purchased (18 times), the major service has been done on it (timing belt etc), and to me it looks like its in great shape. I just have a few questions.
1. I have heard that if you get them serviced at a local mechanic, and order your own parts online, the upkeep is not considerably more than a "regular" car like a toyota. Is this true?
2. Is 93K too many miles to be buying? Do things go wrong with them after 90k?
3. IF you were in my shoes, would you make the purchase?
Cheers guys!

Hey man, seems a little steep (not terrible though). Same engine as a supra, so parts aren't terribly expensive. Have a look around here, plenty with lots of ks / miles. Lower ball joints like to go too, so get them done.
I've seen a few 2000 on models advertised for around 8k (private), with similar ks.
IMO I wouldn't get that one, don't like the colour of it :P

Thanks for that buddy. There is also another one for $12.900 negotiable, with 84,000km in black. Do you think this would be a better one to go for?

This one?. That looks pretty tidy to me, but if it were up to me I'd wait a little bit. I've seen some nice ones go for less. Theres this L-Tuned model, but its a fair bit more expensive. This one here is a fair bit cheaper but seems okay too. Unfortunately I don't own a GS, but I have had a look at a few as I was going to buy one but couldn't find a good one in time. Door locks like to do themselves in them, so check that the doors lock and unlock.

Yes that one, the thing is though the guy is looking for the cash to go overseas, and he said hes only had really crap offers like $7500-$8000. So I was thinking of offering him $10k pending a mechanic inspection. I think 10k for one with that low of kms, well maintained that passes an inspection is a great deal. And as for the 2003, I will NEVER buy another car outside of NSW, changing them over is just such a pain .

Haha fair enough. These cars seem hard to sell in Australia, I'm always looking on Gumtree and Carsales, and I see that they tend to stay for sale for a long time. That black one would look the business with some nice tints on it!
