Default Trunk Struts Has anybody done them?

So I have done a massive search and I cant find anything on trunk struts. Has anyone fitted them or have pics of there install. Im on the last adjustment and the trunk is still very heavy and I want it to open fully from the button.

The trunk lid was never designed to open fully from the bottom using the spring system that it has. If you want to use struts to assist with opening, it will have to be custom.

Why is your trunk so heavy? Mine pops and lifts with very little effort..

Mine opens very easy even with the key fob it pops up almost half way, with an aftermarket spoiler also...

Wow really? My trunk never opens fully when I unlock from the button. It also have no wing, but I'm surprised on how light it really is, I'll push/pull with no effort and it'll close by itself. Modding the trunk with struts seems like to much work and headache. Would be nice to have though. So many things and mods I seen throughout the 2gen GS forum that the GS should have had standard from factory. But of course it would've cost a whole lot more to own...

You can adjust the tension of the trunk lid.

Edit: I don't know how stiff my trunk lid is but when I open it with my remote it just pops up but not all the way up though.

Have you tried just buying new torsion bars first (specced as the /w spoiler)?

They lose their spring over time, So new ones will give you the spring back.

They will wear out again, but so do struts; but seems like you are re-inventing the wheel here, by wanting to redesign the system without doing a simple replace of the worn out part.

Mine is spoilerless and can hardly stay open. I just checked the part numbers and I'm going to order the rods tonight. Ordering the rods made for the spoiler. I'll make a before and after video.

Figure I'd ask a question here too. I park on an incline, so the boot won't stay open. Is this normal? It pops up, but won't stay in the vertical position without being held

i don't think so man, try moving the rod to another slot, if you haven't already. Takes 1 min

I do have the stock wing though and have no experience with the lighter rods (didn't know they were different until the above message)
